TangoDJ is for you if...
It is not for you if...
Faster preparation, safer live control, and a cleaner path from imported music to a finished milonga playlist.
Create tandas from selected tracks, keep them in a dedicated Tandas panel, and reuse them across events.
Send, replace, move, and set the next tanda while the playlist stays organized around tango structure.
Use eight Master presets, Auto gain, clip prediction, filters, parametric EQ, compressor, and VST3 effects.
Audition the next tanda, replacement tracks, or cortinas without changing main playback or the audience display.
See current playback, next track, stop markers, analysis status, timing projections, and tanda issues in compact indicators.
Lock the playlist or player, mark stop-after moments, and let the player process keep going through remembered fallback tracks.
One focused workspace for organizing music, building tandas, running playlists, and shaping the room's sound.
1 / 10
Seventeen years ago I started DJing milongas and quickly hit a wall: every DJ program was built for generic playlists, not tandas, not cortinas, not tango flow.
So I built my own tool. I used it to DJ around the world, and DJs kept asking, "What are you using?"
The problem was: it was never designed for anyone but me. It was hard to install and full of rough edges.
After changing laptops, I rebuilt it from the ground up. TangoDJ is that modern version: a rock-solid, tanda-first system that makes milonga DJing simpler, safer, and more enjoyable.

01
Bring in folders, playlists, or another DJ app's library. Review the import result before confirming it, and undo the import if the organization is not right.
02
Search the library, shortlist favorites, clean metadata, repair missing files or duplicates, and build reusable tandas with cortinas and timing in mind.
03
Preview privately, protect playback, watch the schedule, adjust the next tanda, tune the Master output, and show dancers the current music on the Info Display.
Built to help you prep faster, perform calmly, and keep the milonga flowing.
MIDI remote control
Map MIDI knobs, faders, pads, and buttons to playback, playlist actions, Master presets, EQ, filters, locks, and custom controls.
Mobile Companion
Pair the companion app and control playback, playlists, Master sound, loudness, EQ, and your own custom remote page.
Import review
Import tracks, playlists, and other programs' libraries, then confirm the result only after you inspect it.
Library organization
Organize imports by orchestra, genre, album, year, custom metadata, or the folders already on disk.
Search and prep
Use Tracks as the archive, Favorites as the shortlist, and Tandas as the first place to look during live DJing.
Tanda first
Create tandas from selected tracks, keep complete groups together, and mark cortinas so the playlist behaves like a milonga.
Playlist operations
Send to the next tanda, last tanda, end of playlist, or after a selected tanda without manual list surgery.
Playlist indicators
Compact row markers show what is playing, what will play next, where playback stops, and whether track analysis is ready.
Playback safety
Lock the playlist, lock the player, set stop-after markers, and let fallback tracks keep playing if the main app has to recover.
Private preview
Send main output to speakers and preview output to headphones, so cueing never changes playback or the Info Display.
Master panel
Use gain, volume, filters, EQ, compressor, Auto gain, clip prediction, spectrum view, presets, and VST3 effects.
Info Display
Open a separate audience window, blackout it when needed, and choose or customize display themes.
Themeable display
Built-in Info Display themes can be copied and edited with local HTML, CSS, assets, and optional JavaScript.
Shortcuts and layout
Toggle panels, maximize the panel you need, switch theme and language, and assign shortcuts from Settings.
Backup and repair
Save database copies, export playlists when useful, and preview database repair before applying it.

TangoDJ is built specifically for DJing Argentine tango events such as milongas, practicas, festivals, and marathons.
TangoDJ is a strong fit if your workflow depends on organizing tandas, preparing playlists quickly, timing the night precisely, and keeping professional control of room sound. It is not aimed at general-purpose DJing outside tango events.
Yes. TangoDJ works offline. Internet is only needed for license checks.
Windows and macOS are supported, including Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
MP3, FLAC, WMA, AAC, OGG, M4A, AIFF, and APE are supported.
Migration / library
Yes. You can import music folders, M3U/M3U8 playlists, and libraries from VirtualDJ, Foobar2000, AIMP, Mixxx, and Apple Music.
Yes, with one caveat: tanda recognition depends on tags. If the files do not have usable genre and artist tags, they will not be recognized as tandas automatically.
Auto-organize works from genre and artist tags, and you can still reorganize things manually when you want.
Yes. Even thousands of music files can be edited in bulk.
Yes. You can export playlists and library results when you need to archive, move, or share material outside TangoDJ.
Live performance
Yes. You can use any audio device for preview.
Yes. Main and preview outputs can be changed in real time.
TangoDJ keeps timing precise by skipping silent parts of tracks, inserting a predefined gap between tracks, and fading out cortinas at the time you set. You can also set custom start and stop points per track, so there is no need to prepare trimmed audio files.
When the lock button is on, you can still edit the playlist, but playback flow itself cannot be interrupted or changed. If a track is marked stop-after-play, TangoDJ will stop when playback reaches that track.
Yes. TangoDJ supports one-level undo/redo for paste, cut, and delete operations on lists.
Yes. Open Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts to search actions and assign the shortcuts you use during prep or live playback.
Yes. MIDI controllers can be mapped as remote controls for almost every live action, including playback, volume, presets, EQ, filters, playlist commands, locks, and custom controls.
Mobile Companion can control playback, playlists, Master sound, loudness, EQ, and custom controls after it is paired with the desktop app.
Yes. All panels can be resized, toggled on or off, and swapped.
Sound / EQ
TangoDJ has eight Master preset slots. Each preset can store filters, EQ, compressor settings, Auto gain behavior, and VST3 settings. Live spectrum feedback and clip prediction are included too.
Yes. Saving and recalling EQ presets is instant, even mid-track.
